We are trying to become a "green" family!

After going through a six pack of paper towels in a week and a half, I am fed up!  We are going to try to go green!  I am going to start using only cloth paper towels now and I have already been using natural, homemade cleaning products for about six months now. But I want to become even more eco-friendly.  I just have no idea where to start! I am lost! We already do the following:

1. We unplug everything that we are not using.  I am always driving my husband crazy by unplugging all his gadgets when he's not looking!
2. Although we don't use reusable bags, we do reuse all our plastic places for "doggie duty" when walking our dogs in town.
3. We pay most of our bills online.  
4. We have a small garden.  It's not all big as we would like but we are renting right now and don't want to tear up their yard.  Oh yeah, there's also that dead body in the backyard. (No seriously, there's someone buried in our backyard.)
5. I make all of our cleaning products.  It's so much cheaper than buying them and they work the same!

Deals:  This shows you all the great deals floating around the web. A Tinker Bell Nightshirt from the Disney Store for only $8? Sign me up!  You can email or share it but you can also hit the Shop Now button.  It takes you right to the online store so you can scoop up the deal before it's too late!


Local:  Want to find all the local deals at the stores near you?  This does it!  It shows you a map of where you are and all the deal or specials near you.  Right now I could walk down the street to get some two Blizzards from Dairy Queen for the price of one.


Gas Prices:  By far my favorite feature!  A map shows you all the gas prices in the nearby vicinity.  No more driving around looking for a better deal. I just noticed a gas station a quarter mile away that is seven cents cheaper than where we have been going!


Freebies:  You can browse tons of freebie deals here.  Just click See Offers and it takes you right to the form to score your freebie.  Super easy way to get free stuff!


Coupons for Troops: This is amazing.  You can send you expired or unused coupons to them and they send  them to military families to use on bases around the world.  What a great way to help those protecting our country!

We received our sample bag and loved it!  It included  Revolution Freedom lip gloss, Mineral Hygenics eyeshadow, Shea Terra body cream, Skin Protection cream, Tsi-La Perfume, and Delizioso Elderberry Hair Smoothie.  

Trista's favorite was the Moss Mineral Eyeshadow and the Freedom Gloss!  The lip gloss took some getting used to because it actually tasted differently than regular gloss, which is because they use Shea Butter and Sunflowers as flavor!  It glides on well and leaves a pinkish-red tint.  There was about  a dime size of smoothie in the sample so I honestly have no idea if it is great or not.

I hate when all I can smell all day is my lotion.  I also really liked the lip gloss because I can use it on my daughter(just at home, too bright to go out like that!).  Boo also really loved the smell of the Tsi-La Perfume.

When I received my product I was so excited.  She wraps it in brown paper and puts a pretty bow - it is a present after all!  As you can see from the pictures below I received a dark wood hanger with "Mrs. Morris"  in silver wire.  It is absolutely adorable, especially with the added bow and rhinestone. 

 Can you just imagine a wedding dress hanging off of there?  Amazing photograph opportunity!  As soon as "The Dress" is found I will post a picture for everyone! The shop it came from is called Bridal Wedding Hangers.  Morgan, the owner and artist, is extremely nice and fast to reply.  It was less than 10 days to receive the beautiful hanger - much sooner than I expected :) I do wish the metal was stronger, but then that would make it even harder to twist and make fancy names!

In her Etsy shop she allows you to choose the following hanger colors:

I wanted silver, you can choose from the following wire colors:

When you go to bridal showers you usually see kitchen and bath stuff.  Why not get the bride something unique and something she will love?  Have you ever seen a picture with the wedding dress and a name hanger? Beautiful photograph!  If you want the bride to always tell people it was a great gift from you and have a personalized photograph to celebrate their wedding buy a Name Hanger :)

New Kitchen!

Wow it is a new year and we are going to put in a kitchen downstairs, well my future father in law is doing it. I think he is scared to see me with power tools or a hammer... ? :)  We have been looking all around for cabinets but the only price is above $5k which seems EXCESSIVE for a game room kitchen.  I am going to do a few posts on the process and going through and dealing with companies on picking out cabinets and how well they actually treat me.  Honestly they usually blow me off thinking I am a "dumb blonde," yet they do not realize I am full of knowledge! 

1. Home Depot <-- Will only sell the products in store? hmm...
2. Lowe's <-- Am I sure I do not want the $10k cabinets ?  Uh, no thanks.. lol
3. Windy Hill Hardwoods  <-- I e-mailed for more info and everything. They are in Ohio, so it will be a haul to go there!
