Giant Microbes~Review

My daughter is obsessed with germs lately.  Even since she saw the episode about them on Yo Gabba Gabba, I cannot get her to stop worrying about it.  So when I first saw Giant Microbes I thought that it may help her understand.  Giant Microbes are plush giant sized germs, cells and more!  My daughter and I sat down in front of the computer and looked through their online store.  We talked all about germs but she ended up choosing the Krill.
She insists on calling it her Shrimp.  But I think that it did help her understand that there are really small things everywhere we cannot see.  I think that these would be great for teaching in everywhere from preschool to high school biology class.  They come in Critters, Diseases, Aquatics, and more.

Roaring Springs Paper Company~Review

My husband uses a ton of paper for work. I tried to get him to type everything on his computer but he thinks it's rude to be typing in a meeting(I agree).  We had talked about getting him some recycled paper but they only kind I knew of was from my school days.  Anyone else remember that weird, gray, flimsy paper from middle school?  It was so dark that it made it hard to see pencil on it.  When I received products from Roaring Springs Paper Company, I was surprised how different it was to the "normal" paper!

What makes Roaring Springs Paper Company different than other paper companies?:
"Roaring Spring supplies products produced with different sustainable papers. These included recycled papers, sugarcane fiber paper, and poo papers.
Recycled Papers: Roaring Spring uses papers made from post-consumer waste.  Post-consumer waste, if not recycled, would typically end in a landfill.  Most of the Roaring Spring recycled items contain a minimum of 30% PC waste.  Recycled paper comes in both white and colored versions.
Sugarcane Fiber Paper: Sugarcane fiber is waste material from the sugarcane refining process.  This waste material is then used as pulp tp produce fine paper.  The result is a smooth, bright sheet produced at very green paper mills.  We produce sugarcane items in both white and canary options.
Poo Paper: Poo paper is the ultimate recycled product!  Poo paper uses the fiber that is recovered from actual animal poo.  Odorless and clean, we carry poo paper from elephants, cows, horses and donkey."

I received:
~Three Genesis Notebooks
~Two Landscape Wide Pads
~Three Smaller Colored Landscape Wide Pads
The notebooks would be great for any school work. It has both pockets and dividers to help keep you organized.  The come in one, three and five subjects so you can buy just what you need!  The wide landscape pads were my favorite.  I am always writing my grocery list on little slips on paper that quickly become unreadable.  The wide pads are perfect!  They are large enough for me to even separtate my list into sections(dairy, meat, household, etc.).  There is even enough room to write down which coupons I have.  The smaller landscape pads were great for card night at our house.  My husband and I just started playing Gin again and this is perfect for keeping score for multiple games.  My husband has already took half of everything to work.  I love that he can use as mcuh paper as he needs without doing much damage to the enviroment.

Rockin Green Soap~Review and Giveaway

I recently was able to try Rockin Green Soap, an eco-friendly line of laundry detergent.  Here is a little more about Rockin Green straight from their website:
"Rockin’ Green is an award-winning manufacturer of eco-friendly cleaning products designed to make cleaning easier and greener. Most well-known for their clean-rinsing laundry detergent formulated for use on all fabrics and especially useful on cloth diapers, Rockin’ Green produces detergents for hard, soft and normal water conditions (known as Hard, Soft and Classic Rock varieties).
Rockin’ Green also carries Funk Rock, a first-of-its kind natural ammonia bouncer, and Melody, an odor-neutralizer and air freshener home spray. With the exception of Funk Rock, all products come in seven natural scents, such as Mighty Mighty Marshmallow, Earth Wind & Orchids, Rage Against the Raspberry, and Bare Naked Babies (unscented).
Rockin’ Green was founded in 2009 by Kim Webb, an avid cloth diapering mom who desired a better way to clean cloth diapers and treat her kid’s sensitive skin. More information can be found at www.RockinGreenSoap.com."
This was the first time I have ever tried an eco-friendly detergent.  I was not disappointed!  I tried the Smashing Watermelon scent and was a little worried that the scent would be too strong.  It only left a really light fruity smell.  My husband loves it and says that this is the only detergent he wants to use now!  The bag is pretty big and you only use one to two tablespoons per load.  This bag will last a long time, about 45-90 loads! I really like that it is safe enough for baby diapers.  My daughter has senstive skin so I really have ot watch what kind of detergent I buy.  It really got all our clothes clean, even the grossest of the gross!  My only issue was that it didn't come with a scoop!  We have to go to the laundry mat so if I didn't check before we left, I would have had no way to measure the detergent.  But besides that, I highly recommend it!

Hicural-Stop those annoying hiccups!~Review

So you have the hiccups, now what?  You can try one of the many "cures" that include:

  • Holding your breath
  • Eating peanut butter
  • Chugging water
  • Laying flat on your back
  • Gargle

But do any of these really work? I never really thought so.  I used to get the hiccups all the time in high school for some reason and I could never cure them.  When I had the chance to try Hicural I figured it wouldn't work also.  What exactly is Hicural?
"Hicural has developed and now manufactures the first ever comprehensive tool to stop hiccups on the market today."
All I needed to do was get the hiccups to test it out. So I waited. And waited some more.  Then last night it happened! I got the hiccups and got to see if Hicural really did work.  It did!  Plus it was really simple to use.

Step one:
Hold the Hicural with tab facing inward toward mouth.

Step two: Place Hicural in mouth until it reaches the outer corners.  Gently bite down and slowly drink a cup of water.

Super easy and it works!  I really like that it comes in a little tube.  That way you can wash in after you used it and put it back in the tube and take it with you.  While I do not wish to get the hiccups, now I have a way to get rid of them fast!

Starlooks: Starbox~Review

I am a huge fan of monthly beauty boxes.  My only issue is that most of the time the products are sample sized.  And sometimes they can only be used once.  It is hard to get an idea if it is a product that you would use regularly.

Starbox is a new monthly subscription box from Starlooks that includes 3-4 FULL SIZED beauty products! For only $15 a month you will receive over $35 worth of full sized beauty products.  If you like one of the products you got, you can go on their website and purchase it.  Also, you can save by referring your friends to Starbox!  For every person you refer, you will receive 100 Starbox Points.  100 points equals $10 so that savings could really add up!

My box was the “LE SANG BLEU” by fashion designer to the Stars, Lauren Bradley!  It contained Pink Petal Rose Lip Gloss and Sculpture Infinity Cream Liner.  I have never used a cream eye liner before so I was a little nervous about trying it.  But I really liked it!  It was really easy to apply and makes getting that smoky eye look really simple.  The lip gloss was my favorite.  It was a really light pink and went on smoothly.  I am not a big lipstick wearer so this is perfect for me.  My only problem was that my box was missing the eye liner brush that was supposed to come with it.  I do have another liner brush so I used that instead.

Beanitos~Review

My two year old daughter loves chips.  But I almost always refuse to give her any.  Why?  Most chips are down right horrible for you!  I was excited to be able to try Beanitos! Beanitos are not just a healthy version of a chip; they are actually good for you!  They are all:

~Corn Free
~Gluten Free
~High in Fiber
~Certified Low Glycemic
~Contain 6g of Complete Protein
~Non-GMO Project Verified
~Trans Fat and Cholesterol Free
I was able to try four different kinds of Beanitos!

Black Bean-
My daughter is actually eating some of these right now.  She thinks they are chocolate because of the color and I'm not going to tell her the truth! I liked these, too. They definitely don't taste like regular potato chips.  They are lightly salted and I can see myself eating these on occasion.

Black Bean Chipotle BBQ-
These were my favorite! They are same the chips as above but are covered in chipotle BBQ seasoning.  They were spicy but not too overpowering.  I have ate almost all of these over the last week!

Pinto Bean and Flax-
I wasn't a huge fan of this kind.  My husband really liked them but I thought they needed a bit more seasoning.  But I do like that you can actually see the flax seeds in the,.

Pinto Bean and Flax Cheddar Cheese-
Although I didn't really like the plain ones, I did like these!  They have a good cheddar flavor but I did wish they had a little more seasoning.  My husband and I ate a bunch of these while playing cards this weekend.

Sublime Media Connection will be giving a whole case to one lucky reader so be on the lookout for that!

Ozeri Pro II Digital Kitchen Scale~Review

Have you ever tried a diet and tried to figure out the amount of calories you are eating?  It is almost impossible!  I wanted to see if my favorite cheese was going to be reasonable but when I found the nutritional info I was stumped.  I can eat one ounce of cheese but how much is one ounce?  One slice? A thin or thick slice?  I was thrilled to be able to try the Ozeri Pro II Digital Kitchen Scale.  Ozeri makes digital products for the modern world.  They have a ton of really cool stuff that I would love to try out like electronic wine openers, salt and pepper mills, and book lights.  Here are some of the key features of the kitchen scale:

~Newly design with a capacity range from 0.05 oz to 12 lbs (1 gram to 5.4 kg),
~Built-in countdown kitchen timer with 3 alarm modes (audible beep, blinking LED, or combined)
~Precision tare feature subtracts the weight of the container for the net weight of the ingredients;
~Easy unit button instantly converts between oz, g, lbs, and kg.
~Large screen features a bright LCD with an improved viewing angle for the on-the-go cook.
~Over sized buttons generate audible click confirmation
~3-minute automatic turn-off preserves battery life.
~Finished in elegant chrome and sized for easy storage and portability
~Ships with 2 AAA batteries included.
I decided to try it out while making a simple meal that we often eat at home, Sauteed potatoes, green peppers and onions.  Now I knew that this was probably a pretty healthy meal but I had no idea the amount of calories it had.  So after I chopped all the the ingredients, I weighed them all on the scale.  The scale is really easy to use!  I did not have one problem with it.  I wrote down all the weights of everything; I changed the measurement units with a press of a button.  I used the Calorie Guide that comes with the scale to find the calorie per gram ratio for the ingredients.  It turns out that the entire huge pan only had 652.79 calories!  I could eat half of everything I made for about 325 calories!  I plan on weighing pretty much everything I make now so I can get serious about this dieting thing! I also really liked how small it is, you can easily store it without taking up valuable kitchen space. Overall, I love my new scale!

Auric Blends~Review

I am not a huge perfume girl.   I find that most ones are too strong at first but then their scent fades fast.  That is why I was excited to try a roll on perfume.  I wanted to see the difference between a spray and a roll.  Auric Blends Perfume Roll Ons solved my problem! About Auric Blends:
"Since 1993 Auric Blends has been captivating women and men with our creative line of fragrance products. Our perfumes and incense are handcrafted and always made from the highest quality ingredients from around the world. We invite you to enjoy what millions of people worldwide have come to know and love as their favorite fragrance line.
Auric Blends is located in the small, historic town of Graton in Northern California. (When we say small, we mean it. Graton has only one main street, and about 1800 people call it home!) We are surrounded by vineyards, redwood trees and the cool coastal air that comes in from neighboring Bodega Bay. It’s a majestic and beautiful place that inspires us to create. We love making perfume, incense and all the other aromatic products we offer. We hope you love them too.
Auric Blends Perfume Roll Ons are the company’s best-selling product line. The 1/3 ounce roll ons come in 39 different scents ranging from floral to fruit, to Oriental to fresh. They are hand-blended from exotic perfume ingredients from around the world."
I recently was able to try two scents, Chinese Rain and Sweet Rain. They were both really great! The Chinese Rain is a slightly stronger scent than Sweet Rain but they are both really subtle.  They were not over powering but were surprisingly long lasting.  I can see my using the Sweet Rain on a daily basis.  I really prefer the roll on perfume rather than a spray.  I was worried that the oil would irritate my skin but it was really gentle.  The bottle is small but since you only use a little bit each time, I think that they would last for awhile.  Plus if you do run out, they are only $7.50 a bottle!  Also, the bottle is small enough to toss in your purse or make up bag.  They come in forty scents in fruity, floral, wood, fresh/green, spicy/oriental and musk.

Acure Organics~Review

If you have ever read our blog before then you know how much I love natural and organic beauty products.  When I was given the chance to review Acure Organics I couldn't say no!  Acure organics:
"..is a family owned and operated company founded on sustainable principles to provide the highest quality fair trade, natural and certified organic personal care products. Our products are created with great care and are a reflection of our values. Each of our products is free from animal testing, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, harmful preservatives and artificial colors. We travel the globe to find the most potent certified organic ingredients that meet our high standards of efficacy and purity. We thank you for sharing in our mission to have a positive impact on the world we live in."
I was able to try their brightening facial scrub sea kelp + chlorella growth factor.  It is a gentle exfoliater that I just can't get enough of!  The scrub:

~Gently removes dirt and oil with nourishing exfoliation
~Feeds and restores cells
~Stimulates new cell growth with 1% Chlorella Growth Factor
~Brightens complexion
~Great for all skin types
~Paraben free, Vegan, Gluten free, Synthetic fragrance free, Silicone free, Phthalate free
~Fair trade certified ingredients
Boo thought I looked like a monster!
The first thing I noticed is the color.  It's dark green! The scrub is really, really gentle.  It's less than a scrub and more of a light tickle.  But that doesn't mean it doesn't work! It left my face feeling very soft and clean.  I started using this right around a massive breakout and it seems to really clear up my skin.  It removed all traces of oil without drying my skin.  It has a very light grassy scent but leaves no scent on your skin.  All of the ingredients are organic and pronounceable!  I hate using anything with an ingredient that I can't even say.  The tube is quite large. Since you only need a small amount(pea-sized), the tube would last you at least a few months.  I have been using it every other day and my skin feel excellent!  I plan on using every drop in the tube and then buying more.  Best scrub ever!

Envision Home~Review

When we first moved into our new house, I was so excited for the dish washer!  After a few weeks, I realized that it works great on dishes but not so well on my daughters' sippy cups.  I decided that I would have to start hand washing them to make sure they were getting clean.  We have very limited sink and counter space so I couldn't use a traditional dish drying rack.  I have resorted to using a few towels layered on the counter plus more towels to dry the dishes.  Since we do not have a washer or dryer, having all the extra towels became an issue.  Then I got the chance to try the Dish Drying Mat from Envision Home!
The Dish Drying Mat can hold four times its weight in liquid!  No more drying your dishes before putting them in the drying rack to dry.  It is also machine washable so you don't have to worry about it getting dirty.  Just once a week, toss it in the washer.  That is much easier than having to wash a bunch of towels every other day.  As I said before, we have limited counter space.  I like that after I use the Dish Drying Mat I can fold it up and store it in a drawer!  I also like that this has cusioning so it will protect our glass bowls and wine glasses.

Stay tunes because later on this week Sublime Media Connection is offering three readers a drying mat of their own!
