Pinterest Book ~Review & Giveaway~

The Quick and Easy Guide to Branding Your Business and Creating Massive Sales with Pinterest

By: Kim Garst

Snyposis from authorPinterest, though rhyming with interest, is only loosely related! Basically, it’s a virtual pinboard just like the corkboards we had in our rooms as kids and you may still have in your home or office. Pinterest is a social networking site that allows users to create photo collections online – like online, upscale scrapbooking. It is primarily a photo sharing website where the members are allowed to create albums pertaining to a certain theme or pattern.  Over a very short period of time, Pinterest has become one of the leading social media networks. Fairly recently, given that it launched in early 2010, the site has grown in leaps and bounds and is viewed as a strong competitor to the older social media networking websites. At present, the website attracts over 11 million visits each week, placing it among the top 10 social networks.  Over the past few years, businesses have been using social media websites for promoting and boosting their businesses. The same is the case with Pinterest. You might be wondering how a photo sharing website can help your business become a success.  This book is intended to be a guide for using Pinterest to strengthen your business and brand.

First allow me to say that Pinterest in addicting.  When I discovered Facebook back in college it was almost tied with WVU football games and riding the PRT.   Flash forward to being a grown up and working all day, starting your own business, and realizing it is not as easy as it seems.  The author from this How To is making an effort to introduce you to create sales and gain followers.

From the many marketing classes I had she states the basics of how to market your company
-Give them a taste and not the whole thing!  Follow her 8 Boards With 9 Pins rule
-Organization!  We all love and NEED this in our lives
-Name them appropriately!

I was really excited when I first received this book because both B and I love Pinterest and were interested in what we did not know.  Kim Garst did offer great ideas,  but I feel the book set the scene for someone who does not continuously use Pinterest.  Most of what she stated can be self explanatory - organize, Name them correctly, etc.  She did offer a few ideas that could help a shop from Etsy or a company selling individual products.

Overall, the book would be nice for a beginner but fell short when I was hoping for a more in depth way to gain followers and sales. The book was a quick and easy read.  As a teacher it seemed like this was a term paper or research project on an up and coming product.  While I was in MBA school I had to do this - mine was on the Kindle.  I am not sure if she used her own marketing skills to market her term papers or if it was an actual book.  I may be to critical, but that is why we review products - not everything in the world is great!   If you would like to learn more please follow her on Twitter or Facebook

The author has allowed us the opportunity to give away a copy of the Ebook!  If you are new to Pinterest this would help you understand the process and how-to!Just enter below.
