ALL NATURAL SHEA BUTTER BEAUTY PRODUCTS FROM BEADFORLIFE
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF WOMEN IN UGANDA
BeadforLife,
a non-profit organization, was founded by three American women to help
the women of Uganda learn skills that would allow them to earn livable
wages. BeadforLife began by teaching women to make beautiful beaded
jewelry out of recycled paper. They launched a second income-generating project in northern Uganda
in 2010, creating a livelihood for the extremely poor women who farm and
gather Shea nuts. BeadforLife makes the Shea nuts into Shea butter
products, including creams, soaps and lip balms. The sales of these products have the potential to empower tens of thousands of
women. Currently, BeadforLife is working with 740 women, most of whom
are farmers, to educate them about how to improve the quality of their
farms and bring their agricultural goods to market.
Oh my goodness this smells wonderful! It is called African Lemongrass and Lavender. I honestly can sit here and smell the soap - I wish they could bottle it and put it in a room spray :) The lip gloss is so much better than ChapStick. It is made from Shea Butter and has a peppermint taste. Yum! I am one of those people who licks the lip gloss off their lips to taste it, guilty! In Uganda Shea nuts are called "Women's Gold" and this soap makes me feel like I am washing in it. The soap is made from Shea Butter, Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Essential Oils, and Lemongrass.
The BeadforLife Curriculum is designed for grades 6-12 but is easily adapted for younger and older students. Students will use hands-on activities, simulations, and discussions to better understand global poverty and ways they can take concrete actions to help.
