Below are a few items I use when the school year starts - some are made by me and some are made by other amazing teachers!

I have this placed by my classroom door. Obviously because the clock is near it and the little eyes always watch the clock for the time! I have it in a Word doc so if you want it just comment and I'll post it - you can edit it however you like! It is great for those even more intense "observations" that PA has now ... blah.



Chalkboard Rules poster

This is really cute!  If you know anything about me, well I love chalkboards and they were huge at my wedding.  Without a doubt this would be included in my classroom!

Sadly, "we do lots of tests" is the truth in PA.  When I was in school we had book reports and could make fun presentations and had choices.  Now if it is on the PSSA it has to be taught and nothing else unless you have "free time" which never happens.  I always try to do projects in my reading classes but with the limited resources, time, and strict curriculum guides (Common Core) one has to bow down and get the standards/content done.

This little guy comes in handy!  I found this on the internet a few years ago so I honestly did not make this and wish I knew who the original author was!  I am going to mix it up a bit this year for my new students who move in and add e-mail address to the form.  Many times parents do not fill out the office form out all the way and I grab this doc once it is completed for their use.  Once I use up my supply of these the newest one will be made and posted for you.

Classroom Design!

With the 2015-2016 school year upon us I wanted to show everyone my new classroom.  

As soon as you get something just the way you want it and have the "flow" correct, things change.  I was moved from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor.  Bye bye nice windows to the trees outside and hello windows I can't reach! 

The good thing about this classroom is I have A LOT of space to do things.  As a 6th grade teacher I still decorate my classroom -- many middle school teachers do not because it is "distracting." but bah-humbug to them! Have a look and if you see anything that looks interesting ask and I'll post a close-up! I still have some minor things to do before the year starts, but it is summer time and a girl has to have fun while it lasts!

Coconut oil!

I have read numerous articles about coconut oil and how it does wonders.  I tried it out in my hair while focusing on the ends.  When I say my hair is great and then goes to crap it's  true!  It is either really voluminous and pretty or flat and stringy. I personally blame it on our water because we are basically the frack capital in PA. Gross. 😢

For the fellow 80s and 90s babies there were many things that we miss now.  When I was younger I remember my sister, cousin, and their friends making their hair so BIG I was baffled.  I honestly do not know if I could do it to my own without major hairspray usage or the Cameron Diaz magic product from Something About Mary.   

In between watching them do their hair and makeup, for hours if I may add, I was watching 'toons! The typical cartoon that was on was Scooby Doo.  Can you say Mystery Machine anyone? It was my fun vehicle I had on MASH games as well as a limo ... I always lived in a Shack. :(    Be ready to rock out with Kiss in the Mystery Machine  -- You have been warned of this greatness! You may not be biting off bat heads like Ozzy from Black Sabbath but you will probably be painting your face!
