What are the health benefits of kava kava?
Kava kava's relaxant and calming properties can help offset a number of problems, most notably stress and disrupted sleep patterns. However, in addition to these, Kava Kava has many more benefits including:
  • Treat anxiety and stress: Symptoms associated with anxiety such as nervousness, restlessness, and dizziness have been offset with the use of Kava Kava, as many studies have shown
  • Treat insomnia: Consuming Kava Kava before retiring to bed has been shown to result in restful sleep. It primarily improves sleep quality and decreases the time needed to fall asleep.
  • Relieve depression: Results of some studies suggest Kava Kava may be as effective as certain anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications, without the harmful side effects
  • Combat pain as an analgesic: Because of the relaxant effect it has on the muscles, Kava Kava can offset pain associated with a muscle spasm.
  • Counter muscle problems: Some suggest that it might help to treat muscle pain associated with fibro myalgia.
  • Hasten alcohol and tobacco cessation: Due to its relaxant effect, Kava Kava can help surmount the challenges of drug and alcohol addiction.
  • Treat urogenital problems: Bladder and urinary tract infections have been treated with the traditional use of Kava Kava for many years.
  • Treat menopause: One study shows that Kava Kava can improve symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes.

Recommended Use:
Shake well. Spray 5 to 15 times under the tongue (1-3ml), then wait 10 seconds before swallowing. Use 2-3 times daily, or as needed. Best when taken on an empty stomach.

Our Review:
Brittany:
I have bad social anxiety and was really looking forward to see if this would work.  The first time that I tried it, I was having a really bad day.  I sprayed it about five times under my tongue and at first the taste was almost too strong to handle.  It is very minty and it numbs your mouth.  Did it work? I think so.  I didn't make me forget that the car needed a new engine or the pipe in the bathroom was leaking, but I did feel less stress.

After using it a few times, the taste really didn't bother me anymore.  I did notice a calming effect in social situations.  Also, a few sprays before bedtime really helped me fall asleep. I will continue to use it!

Trista:
First question - Is this better than Moscato or Niagara Wine?  Sorry ... I love my wine!  However, it did seem to give a little extra "umph" that I needed to  get through the piles and piles of laundry, ridiculous amount of paperwork, reading the celebrity gossip.. Ok, that one is not stressful.. :) As B said, it has a really strong taste of first but it grows on you - like relatives.  When they first arrived I was surprised at how fast the company shipped them and the information sheet they included.  The bottles are small enough to throw into your purse, well I have to dig for mine as well as the keys, card, lip gloss, kitchen sink.. the essentials!  I specifically used mine when I was starting to get overwhelmed and to aid in PREVENTION of my migraines.  I can always tell when I need to do something because I get intense pain behind my eye.  I sprayed about 7 sprays the first time and then 10 the next.  I believe it helped - it made me less anxious about what was going to happen and did help me sleep!
