Megan, the mother, is a national TV reporter and the father is a professional photographer.  As with anyone in life, they looked like the perfect family.  As the above synopsis states, their image went down the drain when their son died.  Megan and Michael still have a child, Jenna.  She is an aspiring swimmer and a typical teenage girl who swoons over boys and clothes.  Jenna and Megan went on vacation to Moonlight Creek, which was recommended by a shrink.   

At Moonlight Creek there are many families that had problems, yet can not seem to leave.

"No one ever left this place. If he ever left, he wouldn’t survive."

Why would a mother say that type of stuff?  If Moonlight Creek was so bad, why did a shrink recommend Megan to take her daughter there?  Is this an episode of Supernatural? Because it seems like it is!  Another strange thing popped up in the story that had me thinking - why did Kenny who had Cancer talk like he had to join a cult and stay forever in Moonlight Creek if he decided to get 'cured'? If the  kid wants to leave with his dad, why can't he?  So many questions and the only way to find answers was to finish the book!
