MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF WOMEN IN UGANDA

BeadforLife, a non-profit organization, was founded by three American women to help the women of Uganda learn skills that would allow them to earn livable wages. BeadforLife began by teaching women to make beautiful beaded jewelry out of recycled paper.  They launched a second income-generating project in northern Uganda in 2010, creating a livelihood for the extremely poor women who farm and gather Shea nuts. BeadforLife makes the Shea nuts into Shea butter products, including creams, soaps and lip balms.  The sales of these products have the potential to empower tens of thousands of women.  Currently, BeadforLife is working with 740 women, most of whom are farmers, to educate them about how to improve the quality of their farms and bring their agricultural goods to market.

Oh my goodness this smells wonderful!  It is called African Lemongrass  and Lavender.  I honestly can sit here and smell the soap - I wish they could bottle it and put it in a room spray :)  The lip gloss is so much better than ChapStick.  It is made from Shea Butter and has a peppermint taste.  Yum! I am one of those people who licks the lip gloss off their lips to taste it, guilty!  In Uganda Shea nuts are called "Women's Gold" and this soap makes me feel like I am washing in it.  The soap is made from Shea Butter, Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Essential Oils, and Lemongrass.  

As a bonus, you can teach others about this!  They have developed a curriculum :)  I love it!

The BeadforLife Curriculum is designed for grades 6-12 but is easily adapted for younger and older students. Students will use hands-on activities, simulations, and discussions to better understand global poverty and ways they can take concrete actions to help.

We received our sample bag and loved it!  It included  Revolution Freedom lip gloss, Mineral Hygenics eyeshadow, Shea Terra body cream, Skin Protection cream, Tsi-La Perfume, and Delizioso Elderberry Hair Smoothie.  

Trista's favorite was the Moss Mineral Eyeshadow and the Freedom Gloss!  The lip gloss took some getting used to because it actually tasted differently than regular gloss, which is because they use Shea Butter and Sunflowers as flavor!  It glides on well and leaves a pinkish-red tint.  There was about  a dime size of smoothie in the sample so I honestly have no idea if it is great or not.

Brit's favorite was the Skin Protection cream and the Shea Terra body cream.  I love anti-aging products and the Skin Protection cream didn't disappoint.  It didn't leave any greasiness or film on my face and it felt like it really absorbed into my skin.  The Shea Terra Organics Ultimate Moisturizing Body Cream made my skin super soft.  Plus it didn't have a strong smell! I hate when all I can smell all day is my lotion.  I also really liked the lip gloss because I can use it on my daughter(just at home, too bright to go out like that!).  Boo also really loved the smell of the Tsi-La Perfume.
