Travel and Packing Needs --> GoToob

The award-winning and patented GoToob is made from soft yet rugged silicone, so it's easy to squeeze, and it dispenses the product right away. A special, "no-drip" valve helps the cap stay clean.

The collar is made of two rings that unsnap from one another. The outer ring has an ID window, and the inner ring lists content indicators. Simply snap the outer ring off and back on to display "Soap," "Lotion," and more. A blank setting lets the user write in their own content indicator.

GoToob Three-PackA large opening means it's easy to fill and clean your GoToob. The small 1.25 fl. oz. size slips easily into pockets, bags, purses, and other tight spots. The medium 2 fl. oz. size features a handy suction cup that can briefly attach to walls for moments when you need your hands free. And a large 3 fl. oz. size gives you maximum volume for longer times between refills.

All GoToobs are approved for airplane carry-on, they're food-safe (FDA), and they're 100% BPA-free and PC-free. They are also covered by our lifetime warranty.

GoToobs are recommended for shampoos, conditioners, lotions, suntan oil, liquid soaps, condiments (ketchup, cooking oil, etc.), hand-sanitizers, body wash, toothpaste, secret sauce, magic potions, and many other low and medium viscosity fluids. Be sure to check out the compatibility page for more information about care as well as lists of non-recommended fluids by category (food & beverage, hair care & styling, skin care, and other).

Wedding locations...

Weddings are SO expensive!   Is it really a problem that I'd much rather get married in another country and not have to deal with spending $26,000 on a wedding?  I know it is to feed my guests, make them drink all types of alcohol, and then send them home.  My problem is I'd rather use the $20,000 that is left for a house, a new car, or for my student loans.  Holy crap I am in a predictiment!
I was at my Grandparents yesterday and my Grandad (he is just so smart) said you two like to travel, go somewhere and get married.  How am I supposed to argue with that?  Oh yeah, I'd rather not take my Granddad/Nana/HubbsNan out of the country.  Boo!

So I then looked into All-Inclusive's in the USA.  WOW Expensive! Just for 2 people it is about 3k.  You are still in the USA so why is it so much?! We can go to Mexico to an amazing resort like the Riu for that much.  Ugh... so angry with the pricing of stuff..

What do you guys think about it?

Eagle Creek~Review

When my husband started going on work trip, we realized that our luggage was really lacking.  He likes to only use a carry on but he ends up cramming all his clothes into it. Needless to say but his clothes get really wrinkled.  I have gotten many panic calls about how to work an iron while he's away.  Eagle Creek has come up with the perfect solution for most packing problems!

About Eagle Creek(from their website):
"We take pride in crafting durable and intelligent products; smart solutions that deliver delight and discovery as benefits are revealed through each leg of your trip. Every buckle, zipper, webbing and fabric choice is scrutinized based on rigorous lab testing. Then we take our products on the road to make sure that when you travel, Eagle Creek will have your back. The places we visit motivate our aesthetic, infusing our products with the experiences and sensibilities of travel. Our products are made by travelers, for travelers.
We are keenly aware of the environmental impact of everything we produce. We strive to minimize material waste, and source and manufacture with the least environmentally impactful fabrics, trims and packaging materials. As many of our customers tell us, they have been carrying their Eagle Creek gear for years and have been amazed with the longevity of our products. To that end, we strive to make stuff that lasts a lifetime which means Eagle Creek products inevitably stay out of the landfill that much longer."
I was able to try their Pack-It™ World Traveler System Set!  These are designed to fit more stuff in less space making it perfect for carry on bags.  It includes:

~Pack-It™ Folder 18
~Pack-It™ Cube
~Pack-It™ Cosmo Small
~Lifetime Warranty

I first used the set when going to visit my mom for the weekend.  I was able to fit all of my clothes in the Folder and my daughter's in the Cube.  It drastically reduces the amount of bags that I usually take on a trip.  I was also able to fit my make up, face wash and toothbrushes all in the Cosmo Small bag.  Normally, I take at least two make up/toiletry bags.
All of my daughter's and my things!
Everything I could fit(plus extra room) in the small bag.
The bags are really high quality and I could see them lasting for a long time.  They even offer a lifetime guarantee!  I like the material they used.  They would be easy to wipe off but don't have that cheap plastic like feeling. My husband has already claimed the bags as his for when he goes on another business trip.  Now I won't have to have the emergency ironing call at 6 AM!

Eagle Creek has a wide selection of all sizes of luggage. The also have a have a great page filled with travel tips and packing guides.  You can find out more by checking out their Facebook and Twitter pages!

Stay tunes because Sublime Media Connection will be giving one lucky reader a set of their own!

I really loved and wished I had more to use when I was on vacation in Jamaica! The pool with the swim up bar was so chlorinated, for obvious reasons that you really never want to think about while swimming or sitting near people.   The little packet was easy to include in my travel bag and made me feel like my blonde hair was healthy after using it.  I was a little hesitant to use it at first because I was in another country and going to a stylist was out of the question.  However, I really wanted to take care of my natural blonde locks and gave it a try! Look below for proof that my hair did not change a strange color or was stained - eek! PS.  The sun totally makes it blonder, which I love :)

ToiletTree Products!

One of my habits when I go on vacation is to take everything with me ... clothes, makeup, hair products, etc.  ToiletTree was kind enough to let me try out their Toiletry Bag with TSA approved bottles in it. I love this bag!  It actually fit my big hair straighter in it, as well as all my makeup that I think I'll take to Jamaica!

  • Designed to organize all of your toiletries while traveling.
  • Large double zipper compartment for easy access. Separate zipper compartment located on the bottom of bag.
  • Bag comes with 3 TSA approved travel bottles, collapsible cup with pill holder, and toothbrush case.
  • Designed with a fully water resistant interior.
As I said, I take a lot of stuff.  This is almost nothing compared to what I usually take. I need to remember to add my other hair products to my checked bags or else I'll be lost! I put all my powdered products into a small makeup bag, but if you do not want to it is fine.  The interior is  easily cleaned by just a damp cloth!

So neat and organized!

This bag is made of high quality materials, with a leather like outside.  The inside is made of a canvas type of material, so it is perfect if you take makeup and it accidentally spills - easy to clean up.  It is stitched in white, which allows for an expensive quality to it.  The top compartment holds many things.

The bottom has the bottles to out your shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in.  I use a ton of conditioner at the beach, so I will more than likely take the entire thing in my checked luggage.  I hate having dry hair and salt water does it to mine  but also makes it look so nice when it is wavy!

Go to Amazon and check out all the products ToiletTree has!

Why I hate vacation..

Let me rephrase that; Why I hate coming home from vacation.  I just came home from our annual family beach trip with my mother and siblings.  It was a great time and little Boo had an amazing trip.  We swam, built sandcastles, flew a kite and even saw a sea turtle swim into the water.  It was probably the best beach trip we have been on as a family.  The bad part? Coming home!  Reasons I hate coming home:

  1. Unpacking.  Is this clean or dirty?  Everything smells like sunblock so you end up washing everything anyway.  Did I really need to bring every hair care product I own? How did sand end up on every single thing I brought?
  2. Cleaning the house.  My husband absolutely despises the beach so he never goes with us.  I know, who hates the beach that much? Robbie, that's who.  What does he love? Apparently making a huge mess!  I came home after being assured that he cleaned. To give him credit, the house did look clean.  Well maybe if you closed one eye and spun around until you were extremely dizzy.  Anyway, I have spent all morning cleaning and there is still so more much to do.
  3. Boo misses everyone.  After spending the week with my whole family, she really misses everyone when we go home.  The week after we come home is always a really hard week for her.  It must be difficult for a two year old to understand why her beloved MeMaw isn't with her.
  4. Going to the grocery store.  You leave with a kitchen filled of food.  You come how to nothing but a half loaf of bread and some tea bags.  No meat, no snacks, no drinks.  How did he manage to eat two jars of peanut butter?!
But I guess that this makes it worth it....

Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls-Book~R/GA~

Naughty is the new Nice..

That’s the mantra and message of the new “tell-all” how-to paperback, physical book from beauty maestro Dimitri James. In Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls, James creates a new kind of finishing school–one for nice girls who always finish anywhere but first.

Tired of seeing the many “nice girls” in his life constantly overlooked, James, a celebrity makeup artist, style guru and television personality, offers a lively and entertaining read full of actionable tips and tricks, showing you how to get whom and what you want.
Those open the book will learn how to look classy, not trashy, trading the prim, proper uniform of “safe” clothing, makeup and hair for something sexier and more inviting, but still situation-appropriate. “You would be surprised how many women don’t know how to use clothes and makeup to market themselves in various social or professional settings,” says James. “‘Nice’ girls are invisible, and ‘trashy’ ones go over the top. ‘Naughty’ is the happy medium that pushes the envelope without crossing the line.”
Thus, James challenges the traditional connotations of the word “naughty” and redefines it as a spirit that can change both image and self-perception for the better. In chapters that range from “Naughty at Work” to “Naughty First Date” to “Naughty Traveler” and “Yummy Mommy,” the author shows readers how to dress outside the box and re-vamp their beauty regimens to add sizzle to their style for all seasons and occasions.
Flip open the physical book to almost any page and find a small gem of wisdom, or a stunningly clear depiction of “nice” vs. “naughty” vs. “trashy,” all sprinkled with James’ trademark wit, candor and spirit of camaraderie.
Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls is loaded with makeup and fashion advice to empower a Nice Girl to transform herself into a spicy but classy woman in every situation. So, go ahead and channel your inner naughty. Instead of fading into the background, become a star in your own life!
Naughty Makeovers is filled with all types of information.  One of my favorite sections in this book was about traveling.  I loved the illustrations because it was so real - showing girls in super short skirts and tank tops, some in sweatpants, and others looking normal.  Every time we go on vacation and fly I have the dilemma on deciding if I want to wear sweats or look good.  Although you can still look good in sweatpants using some of Dimitri James' hints, it is still classy to wear nice clothes.  I remember, well actually I do not because I was not even born, when people who flew were dressed to the 9's and were proud to be flying.  I feel that way today - many do not have the privilege to do it!  So this August when we go to Jamaica I'll post a pic of my traveling clothes.  Trust me when I saw when you look nice and professional you get more things done.  Who really wants to help someone looking homely?

Day 1 - Crunch time!

Whoohoo! I am going to Jamaica in August!   No whoohoo is that it is crunch time, literally!

I have been all over pinterest and we own Insanity and just got 10 Min. Trainer for Christmas.  I keep thinking how I stayed small in HS and figured it was everytime Track came in the Spring I stopped going to parties (well participating) and worked out everyday.

Want to see a pic of B and I in HS when we thought getting love handles would never happen?  At the point I lose .5 inch in my waist I will show you! You will be like who the heck are those girls, even though my face looks the exact same.

So I approximately have a little over 2 months to get in tip top shape.  I reward myself with gifts - new yoga pants, swimsuits, bras, etc.   For my first present after deciding to workout and get in better shape I bought some Hollister yoga shorts and bras.  Ok, I would have bought them any other day!

So this is my plan for today, 100 of each!   Tomorrow I will start jogging on the Tredmill :) er, :| lol
  • Stretches
  • Mt. Climbers
  • Jumping Jacks
  • Squats
  • Wall Push Ups
  • Leg Lifts
  • Side Twists
  • High Knees

Day 1 is off to go!  PS.  I also took my measurements this morning so we can see if it does make a difference just doing some work.

The Taker Book Tour

Synopsis: A love story spanning over 200 years
On the midnight shift at a hospital in rural Main, Dr. Luke Findley is expecting another quiet evening of frostbite and the occasional domestic dispute. But the minute Lanore McIlvrae—Lanny—walks into his ER, she changes his life forever. A mysterious woman with a past and plenty of dark secrets, Lanny is unlike anyone Luke has ever met. He is inexplicably drawn to her…despite the fact that she is a murder suspect with a police escort. And as she begins to tell her story, a story of enduring love and consummate betrayal that transcends time and mortality, Luke finds himself utterly captivated.

Her impassioned account begins at the turn of the nineteenth century in the same small town of St. Andrew, Maine, back when it was a Puritan settlement. Consumed as a child by her love for the son of the town's founder, Lanny will do anything to be with him forever. But the price she pays is steep—an immortal bond that chains her to a terrible fate for all eternity. And now, two centuries later, the key to her healing and her salvation lies with Dr. Luke Findley.

THE TAKER by Alma Katsu (Trade Paperback; on-sale: March 27, 2012; S&S: Gallery Books; $15.00; 978-1439197066) enthralled readers when it was first released and earned the prestigious honor of being selected by ALA/Booklist as one of the top ten debut novels of 2011.  Now available in trade paperback, featuring a Gallery Readers Group Guide, this sweeping story of never-ending love can be enjoyed by individual readers and reading groups everywhere.
 ------

I honestly have no words except AMAZING!  OK, we fibbed.. this is a one of a kind story and I'm sure we can say a lot about it.  The Taker was riveting, filled with emotions and amazing details.  The first night I read well over 200 pages.  Yes, if I love a book I will try to read the entire thing in one sitting!  The author uses the tactic of beginning with a story, like in the present then jumping to another time.  It gives us more information and knowledge on the characters and hooks people like me to keep reading.  I honestly thought the stories from the past were much more exciting than present ones involving Lanny and Luke.  I loved to hear the way they dressed and why Lanny is the way she is.  I kept thinking why did Lanny and Luke have a connection?  Why?  Just tell me!

The character development Alma Katsu uses is an absolute art.  How the characters interact is like seeing a movie before my eyes.  The author, Alma Katsu, gives each character qualities that we both love and hate at the same time.  Much like a person in real life, there are things that we would rather keep quiet than allowing others know, which Lanny symbolizes well.  I am putting this book in the same ranking as Charline Harris Sookie Stackhouse books - True Blood.  It is very addicting to read and has a great plot!  I hope there are going to be many more in this series in the future! This book honestly just went to paperback in March - go buy it!  If you are going on vacation take it with you :)  I am starting the next book later tonight!

Be sure to watch for our review of the second book in The Taker Trilogy!

Lightning-fast Spanish For Kids and Families

Almost every year my future hubster and I have been fortunate enough to have traveled to the Riviera Maya for vacation.  As Carolyn stated in the book introduction, most people do not get past "mas cerveza por favor!"  B and I have both had 4 years of Spanish in high school, we did learn a lot but then forgot most of it. When I was in college for undergrad I chose to take a Spanish class.  When I signed up it stated TBA or the Instructor and when I went to class the first day it was one of my HS Spanish teachers!  I learned a lot in the class, had to be an example for everyone ... but talking and listening are two different things.  I was great at listening to the conversations and know what they were saying.  While we were on a dive boat in Mexico the dive crew were making jokes and I was laughing.  Our Dive Master was blown away that I could understand what they were saying, but I could only speak a few phrases back in Spanish.

I love that the author put instructions on how to use the book.  Most people would just jump right in, often trying them then forgetting the words like B and I did in HS.  As a teacher I loved that we can take the lessons and actually use them as quick lesson plans in the classroom.   Carolyn breaks the lessons up and includes various parts that are easily organized for you.  I  actually tried lesson 1 in the room while folding clothes.  It was a hoot! Sean and my dog just looked at and and were wondering why I had a laundry basket and talking in Spanish to them.

Overall this book is wonderful.  One of my favorite parts was the activities section.  I though the Map Game activity listed was a great resource. In my first 4 years of Spanish we honestly went over all the words listed.  As a teacher these are all activities I would use in and outside the classroom.  If you are planning a trip to a Spanish speaking country this would be a great resource to use before you leave - you can always use it on the airplane too!  If she does get to offer additional resources for Spanish, word flash cards would be great!  Visit her on Amazon to purchase it or read more reviews!

Additional books available to help you learn!
